Dr. Muhammad Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, revealed the details of the implementation of the electrical interconnection project with Saudi Arabia, which allows the exchange of 3,000 megawatts between the two countries at peak time, which differs between the two countries by about 6 hours, as “the peak time in Egypt is at the time of Morocco, and the peak time in Saudi Arabia.” noon time".
Shaker added, during an intervention with Dr. Moataz Abdel Fattah, presenter of the “Under the Sun” program on “Al Shams” channel: “The project is very large, and the two countries are the two largest countries in the region with the capabilities they have, and the brothers in Saudi Arabia are in a Gulf link network, and when the link is made with Saudi Arabia We are strengthening the existing interconnection network in the Arab region.”
He continued, "We are very happy with the project, and we have been talking about it for a while, but the political leadership in the two countries insisted on the success of the matter and the signing of contracts in two phases."
