Taxes: 2.5% real estate transaction tax is paid by the seller, not the buyer
Talaat Abdel Salam, Director of the Technical Office of the Head of the Tax Authority, said that the real estate tax is one of the income taxes found in the law.
And Abdel Salam added, in a telephone interview on the “Al-Hayat Al-Youm” program broadcast on Al-Hayat channel, that the tax on real estate transactions is paid by the seller of any property at a value of 2.5% of the property value.
He continued, "The real estate located inside the villages is not subject to the real estate transaction tax, and the real estate transaction tax applies to real estate located inside the cities."
"The real estate transaction tax is paid by the seller, not the buyer, and the buyer has the right to dispose of the property after purchasing it and to apply for electricity, water and gas services, and he does not pay any real estate transaction tax," he said.
He stressed that "facilities are being provided to register real estate in the real estate registry."
